"Anything that's mentionable is human and anything that's mentionable can be more manageable. When we talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary."
-Fred Rogers.
SERVICES
This therapy is a type of counseling designed to support children and teens, as they navigate the challenges of growing up. It provides a safe space for youth to talk about their feelings, thoughts, and experiences, whether they're struggling with emotional struggles, low self-esteem, the pressure of fitting it, academic stress, neurodivergence, or family issues.
In therapy, youth become more self-aware, improve their confidence, manage intense emotions, develop healthier habits, and strengthen their relationships with peers and family.
Mind-body therapies like Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) are especially useful for young people, who have faced traumatic or difficult life situations (e.g., divorce, illness), helping them reprocess these events and reduce their emotional intensity.
Internal Family Systems (IFS) allows young people to explore the different parts of themselves, such as The Part that Feels Anxious or The Part that Struggles with Self-Confidence. It helps them understand the reasons behind these parts, while allowing them to cultivate empathy and care for them.
CBT helps youth challenge unhelpful thoughts and behaviours and develop more constructive ways of thinking and behaving, while DBT offers them skills to regulate emotions, handle stress, and communicate more effectively with others.
-
Mindfulness can young people observe their worlds without getting swept up in them. Somatic practices can teach them to release tension and regulate their emotions through the body. These approaches not only help youth overcome specific struggles, but also gives them lifelong tools for positive mental health.
Our approach centers on the specific needs of young people through focused therapy. We also acknowledge the importance of family support and may involve family members when necessary to enhance the enhance the youth’s progress and well-being.
